Revival seems to be in Christian circles one of two things:
- A series of planned services, often with outside speakers and musicians, that occurs occasionally in the life of the church
- A mytical, ethereal, intangible move of God’s Holy Spirit that may come one day if we can convince Him to do it and if/when He decides to send it
I don’t believe that either of these are what God intends for His Beloved.
I believe that Scripture and the revelation of God would indicate that revival is available to you, your family and the church of Jesus Christ, right now!
So what therefore is the revival of which I speak? I believe it is simply this:
Acknowledging the presence and glory of God, whilst seeking His face and fully surrendering to Him. Revival is the experiencing (by faith) of God’s presence and the recieving (by faith) of God’s promises and Holy Spirit and then responding (by faith) in obedience to what God has revealed and is revealing.
May we as Christians understand that God’s reviving presence is always present and that His renewing Spirit is instantly available and that God is the One who is waiting for us to truly understand revival and ask for revival.
Revival is neither more nor less than a faithful acknowledgement of who God is, where He is and what He is doing combined with the supernatural out-pouring of His Holy Spirit on fully surrendered people.
The outward manifestations of raised hands, joyous expressions on people’s faces, people running to the altar and falling on their knees is only a by-product that flows out of operating by faith and surrender and allowing ourselves to be moved by God. God is already working, moving and speaking. The question is whether we are listening and obeying in faith.
If you want yourself, your family, your church and your community to experience revival that truly glorifies and exalts God and moves mountains, it is as a simple as praying in faith and then obeying in faith. When you do that God’s gracious, loving and supernatural work will be released to work in, around and through you.
So this week organize a prayer meeting for revival. It may start with you alone, but diligentely seek to get one more person to pray with you each and every week. And pray simply thanking the Lord that He is already working for the salvation and revival/awakening of people everywhere. Thank Him that His Spirit is already present. Fully surrender afresh and anew all things (that means confession and repentance) and then ask the Lord to bring more people into one accord with you praying for revival.
If we could get all believers everywhere to ask for God’s reviving presence and then acknowledge His reviving presence and then live obediently by faith in regards to what He reveals, we would look up one day and seek the outward manifestations and realize that revival is upon us and has already been upon us since the moment we first believed!
