Dear Christian,
I want to remind you of some amazing words that Jesus spoke to His disciples 2000 years ago and even now is speaking to those who wholeheartedly believe in and follow Him:
“You are the light of the world”.
We know that Jesus is the light of the world. The Bible is clear on that. Jesus’ life illuminates the world around Him, shines a light on the truth of the gospel, and reveals the radiance of the love and glory of God. Jesus’ light declares the power and authority of God and embodies the fullness of the love, mercy and grace of God. Jesus’ light pushes back the darkness, shows the obstacles along the path, and reveals the right way to go. Jesus’ light declares boldly, unfalteringly and with radiant beauty the salvation offered by God to all who will believe and receive Him.
And you and I as God’s children are now the light of the world. We have received the Spirit of Jesus as our inheritance, as a deposit guaranteeing what is to come and as a seal of the work of God in us and through us. We are the light of the world as we faithfully obey and persevere (by grace through faith). We are the light of the world as Jesus’ love, grace, and truth lives in us and shines through us.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 5:14-16
