Practically loving people

loveIntentionally

Proactively

Not based on how I feel or how limited/imperfect I may be

But based on the promises/power of God

By the Holy Spirit of God

With the love of God

Not for their emotional lifting up (though this is a nice side benefit)

Not for the things in their life to turn out perfect or successful (as the world defines successful)

But so that they will know the truth that will set them free

So that they know the depths of the love of God

So they see the love of God lived out in our lives

Words of affirmation are meaningful

So are words of that bring hope, encouragement and good cheer

But words alone do not suffice

The way in which we share those words can communicate or refute the message we are speaking with our lips

The life which we live can either deny or affirm the message we are preaching

The surest way to confirm a message of love is to have a heart full of love, for what is within must come forth. Out of the overflow of the heart not only does the mouth speak but life speaks.

So what is in your heart?

Is this practical? YES, this is the most practical component of love there is. Have love in your heart and it will come out. You won’t be able to contain it. That is the nature of God’s true and perfect love.
